ChildFund Australia has been awarded Charity of the Year at the 2014 JustGiving Awards, recognising the organisation’s work in partnering with local communities to improve the lives of millions of children and their families in developing countries.
The winners were announced on social media yesterday, following a public vote hostedåÊon the JustGiving Facebook page.
ChildFund Australia CEO Nigel Spence commented on the award: “I am incredibly proud that ChildFund Australia has been voted Charity of the Year for 2014. We were overwhelmed by the response we had from supporters who got behind our nomination, people who have been with us for 10, 20, even 30 years. To everyone who supports ChildFund and who voted for us to win this award, we say a huge thank you.
“One of the best parts of the voting process was that it inspired our supporters to share their stories and why they feel so proud to be a part of ChildFund and the work we do. We see every day the positive changes that can happen for children in the communities where we work, often with just the smallest investment. To know that our supporters see it too is very special.”
The inaugural JustGiving Awards Asia Pacific, now in their fifth year in the United Kingdom, come in response to the substantial growth of JustGiving in the Asia-Pacific region since it entered the Australian market in early 2013. The awards recognise and celebrate the phenomenal achievements of Australian fundraisers and charity groups taking place in the past 12 months.
People were able to vote for their favourite Charity and Fundraiser via Facebook,åÊputting the destiny of award finalists in the hands of the Australian public.
Nikki Kinloch, Australia’s country director at JustGiving, said: “We’re extremely excited to award ChildFund Australia Charity of the Year. The results of the public vote are a testament to the inspirational work that they’re doing to deliver life-changing programs for children in the world’s poorest communities.”
