Welcome Back!

Last time you were here, you were looking to help vulnerable children and families. Your support can save and change lives.

Kelly and I have just arrived home from our trip to Vietnam, Laos, Timor Leste and outback Australia, where kids involved in ChildFund Connect have been making videos of their lives for the Our Day Project.

We’ve been amazed by the creativity of the kids and can’t wait to see their footage come to life on the big screen. We’ll be launching the film at events in each of the participating communities on Universal Children’s Day (20 November).

On this trip, we really noticed such a difference in the kids. Most of them were so shy when we first met them. Now they’ve really opened up and are excited about contributing their ideas and videos, and seeing what life is like for kids in other countries.

Truong, who has just joined the ChildFund Connect team in Vietnam, says: “One great thing about our project is that we can help build children’s confidence and help them to think creatively. It is so exciting for the children because it gives them a chance to communicate with other children outside their country.”

Right now Kelly and I are back in Timor Leste after an amazing week working with a primary school in the Northern Territory. The kids at the school are taking part in the Our Day Project, a film that documents a day in the life of children in different parts of the world.

Our Day is a collaboration between ChildFund Australia’s ChildFund Connect program and the Queensland Government, and will involve hundreds of children across South East Asia and the South Pacific. All the footage will be taken by children, using pocket video cameras.

We’ll be spending the next few weeks working with the kids in different countries – most of the children we’ve worked with before so it will be really interesting to see how their ideas and skills have developed.

The teaser below includes clips made by children in Australia, Vietnam, Laos and Timor Leste. It’s a great little promo of what is yet to come – a film about children, made by children. Check out the video and let us know what you think!
